Bronco Parking Angle

Assistant Prosecutor Marcia Clark and American Justice host Bill Kurtis based their presentations of evidence against O.J. on the 4-sided foundation laid down for them by Mark Fuhrman's. Side-1 was his 1989 pattern-of-abuse letter. Side-2 was his role in the murder investigation on Bundy. Side-3 was his role in the murder investigation on Rockingham. The 4th side of the foundation was Fuhrman's performance as the star prosecution witness. More than anything, he planted ideas that overruled and outlived photographic evidence to the contrary.  

Bill Kurtis voiceover while showing a photo of the Bronco: ...*Then, along the roadside, police spotted a white Ford Bronco with one wheel perched on the curb, looking as though it had been parked in a hurry...

Three photos of the Bronco on Rockingham show the stick on the parkway in different locations. A three quarter front view photo shows the stick to the right rear of the vehicle's right front tire. The photo that Fuhrman uses to illustrate his story of the Bronco coming to a sudden halt and tossing the stick that was caught in the "bumper grill or suspension" forward (Murder in Brentwood, page 194), shows the stick over two foot forward of where it appears in this one. The '94 Bronco has no grille and no place on the bumper or suspension that a stick could get caught in.

Animation (Fuhrman's story)

In all of the photos of the Bronco, the tires are in the same position and the driveway is cropped out of the frame. The front tires are not "turned into the curb" as Fuhrman described them in the preliminary hearing, and the "extreme" angle that Fuhrman said caught his attention does not exist. Fuhrman's only reference to the driveway is his suggestion that the Bronco drove past it.

 From the actual parking angle and the direction that the Bentley and the SAAB inside the gate were facing (toward the street), the most logical explanation for the way the Bronco was parked was that it came from the driveway. The detectives on the scene had no logical reason to assume that it didn't until Fuhrman discovered the tiny blood spot above the handle.
