It was Dick that put all the effort into making the map to show you the places where the pictures were taken. He is very good at his research of this crime and takes many pictures to document what we are seeing. He has some pictures of a change in the concrete sidewalk in the Bundy/Gorham curve. One part is old concrete with a date stamp, the other part is newer. It appears the Gorham used to intersect Bundy in a more typical manner. Since the street had so much traffic, the city must have decided to make the curves you see in the pictures to avoid a sharp turn right and then another sharp turn left.
As to the couple Schwab mentioned, we can not be sure which side they went down on Bundy. If they were strolling around the block, it is likely they stayed on the west side and passed by Nicole's condo. Maybe they saw the crime scene and did not report it. Or maybe as Dick thinks, they were like Aronson and Mandel who walked by without noticing.
It is interesting that you noted the spot near the trash cans as a place for a lookout to hide. When we were there taking the pictures, Dick wanted me to crouch down in the stairs leading up to the house (I think it is 864 Bundy) so he could take a picture of how much would be seen of a person hiding in the place. I did not feel comfortable doing it, so the picture was never taken. On Dick's site, he has an article about the man Karpf saw and how he had the Akita up at that corner. Think leash on the Akita.
Dick indicated he would consider putting the pictures on his site if you can not get your scanner/cd problem solved. He is involved in other projects and it could take a while. And we would have to find the pictures again from a duplicate set (there were a lot more pictures in that set of Bundy and Schwab's walk).
While we may disagree on exactly what happened that night, I believe it is important to share information with those trying to understand this crime, as all that matters is finding the truth.
