The open gate is a BIG error. I hoped someone would catch it. But it isn't my error; it's Fuhrman's. He had consistency problems with both gates as well as the time that O.J. supposedly spent behind them or in the main house he entered by way of the maid's entrance between them.
Kato testified that he (Kato, not O.J.) opened the first gate. The fact that it was not attacked to its hinges meant that he couldn't swing it open. He had to pick it up and move it, which removes any likelihood that he could have been mistaken. He didn't see O.J. until he returned.
That sequence of events is consistent with Allan Park's testimony and Park's phone records. It is also consistent with O.J.'s story of coming from the door of his house four or five steps from where Park first saw him. It is not consistent with the "blood trail" on the left of the driveway that Fuhrman's partner was "marking" when Fung showed up and stopped him. It is not consistent with Fuhrman's testimony that both gates were open when he went behind the garage to investigate Kato's report of the thumps.
According to Fuhrman's testimony BOTH gates were open when he went to investigate the thumps on the 13th. To match his story of O.J. on the night of the 12th fleeing in great haste from the spot where Fuhrman found the glove, both gates had to be open. The only way Fuhrman could make that story work is if Kato didn't open either gate. Nowhere in Fuhrman's version of O.J. dropping the glove and going back to the front door is there an explanation - reasonable or otherwise - for how Kato could have found either gate closed if O.J. opened them in panic-driven flight. That's why Fuhrman changed the sequence of events in the testimony to put as much time and space as possible between Kato and Park.
The animations do put things into perspective. Wouldn't it be nice if O.J. looked at them and talked about them in an interview? --Jasper
