Chief Parker, Chief before Gates collected all this dirt on actors, politicians. Gates was his driver and in charge of the dirt files. They used them for one thing to force the studio to make films that showed the LAPD as this great police dept. ie Joe Friday. and to keep them from any movies or TV that put them in a bad light.
Now the Heidi girls where intelligence gatherers. It probably went much farther than just the LAPD stuff to much bigger world leaders, etc.
No telling what Ron and Nicole knew or if and who they might be blackmailing to get the money for the resturants, etc.
Furman wanting to get back at OJ for having a woman that he wanted may have found out from Nicole that she had this info and told and volunteered to be the assisation.
