Add this to a possibility. You mentioned using baseball bats to smash pumpkins. All well and good unless you have a crowd and need a "weapon" for everybody. Using golf clubs might make sense then.
And then being drunk and some used to being picked up after--left them lying on the lawn just where they threw them down.
Then someone came along later and removed them all to implicate MS. .or to hide that a group of people had been there....fingerprints, etc.
