I think the stories actually merge. The call to the police station implied that it was a reporter from the tv station (Chn 4 I think) and then the cop manning the phone called the tv station and asked had anyone from there called the police station about the "sitting on the bodies".
And I think there is a question about the time. The cop said just before he got off duty so it was between 10:30 and 10:45.
Some of the others may know more about it.
I heard at one time that 2 different police stations were called during that time period.
