For most of this morning and afternoon I’ve be struggling with my html program to get the picture of the Bruno Magli’s that Miss Marple pointed us to on the same High Points page as the other photos I have of the shoes in the Scull and Flammer photos. http://www.smartfellowspress.com/flammers_photos.htm What you see while you’re working is not what you see in your browser and it’s hell trying to make the pictures line up halfway decently. I also have bugs in my system that make it impossible for me to do some things that should be easy. On top of that, I haven’t been able to find the “off switch” on my capture program counter, which prints out on the pictures. At least, I think it’s in my program. It could have been what I captured from the television show.
Anyhow, I was going batty with that stuff and trying to take the counter out of the pictures when I realized I was doing the same thing that would have worked to transform McElroy’s shoes into Bruno Magli Lorenzos. It then dawned on me that McElroy’s shoes could not have been Bruno Magli Lorenzos because ALL Lorenzos had a suede finish. Therefore it probably wasn’t as tough as I thought it would be for him to get the shoes he needed to stand in for the Lorenzos and add the sued. He could have picked the shoes up any time at his nearest Bloomingdale’s or ordered them from the Bruno Magli catalog.
It always seemed odd to me that the shoe on O.J.’s right foot in the “Flammer” close-up looked shiny while the left shoe looked scuffed. I dismissed it as an optical illusion until all the farting around I did with McElroy’s photo got me to pay closer attention to the gloss on his shoes. The connection is real but does it mean what I think it does? Did McElroy try to turn the highlights on his shoes into wear-marks on “Flammer’s” shoes or can somebody think of a more plausible explanation? –Jasper
