Jasper, At least part of the info about the abortions comes from the depo of OJ. And the other comes from reading bits and pieces here and there.

I think she had 2 abortions before they married. A couple during their marriage and at least one, maybe two after their marriage. One after the marriage was pretty quick --with the law clerk from their divorce office.

I will tell you this about Catholics. I am not one but I have several friends who are and a sister-in-law. When they had their two children, they had their tubes tied. THAT's what they did.

Now they did tend to be older than Nicole when she had Justin. And if she didn't--she had in mind at some point having another child--perhaps with another man--or keeping her options open.

And from Raging Heart I got the definite impression that she didn't really Want to have Justin but got backed into a corner with him. You may recall that even OJ said she had that post-partem depression with Sidney and again with Justin.

The abortions before their marriage "might" have been because she didn't want to have children out of wedlock--but Denise and Dom did. I think it was just as much that OJ didn't want them out of wedlock either due to his "image". And the best I can figure out she wasn't pregnant when they married.

I don't think women are nearly as conficted (Catholic women that is) about birth control as they used to be. And about birth itself.

Example: About 20 years ago the Catholic Hospital here shut down its maternity wing. Why? Nobody was using it. Why? Because according the Catholic way, the baby's life was supposed to be saved over the mother's if there is a problem. NOBODY but NOBODY in modern times was going for that.

And too many modern folks were going to have two or three and that was it. No more for them--if they couldn't afford them and live in a way that they wanted to live and be able to send them to school-preferably Catholic schools which is not cheap and to college.

The Simpsons didn't have this problem. They had plenty of money for schools and a way of life.

And I am not too sure that they would think using birth control is worse than an abortion.

But this is academic except to point out that Nicole was NOT just sticking to oral sex before and after her marriage.
