O.J. Simpson lost his long time maid because Nicole slapped her hard. Not the 89 incident either. She accused her of sleeping with O.J. Simpson and Michelle quit. When O.J. Simpson hired Gigi she had kids and it was simply more practical to give her a separete residence. Just as O.J. did feel it was okay for his kids to have a Man essentially in the same house with Nicole as far as appearence of wrongdoing, he didn't want the maid inside what would have been considered the same roof with him. At Gretna Green Kato lived under a separete roof.
