The time of the video was irrelevant. OJ used an old photograph, perhaps from the cops, perhaps from Lee. I can not tell from the photo is the blood has 'soaked into' the wood or merely dried on top of the wax.

Sure they would! You just don't want a ptentially key piec of evidence like that to be contaminated by dirt from someone's shoe. The shape of the drops is also important. And, if the drops had been merely dried on top of wax, as you suggest, it would have been easy to smear them.

No. QAuite the opposite. If the red drops had been something the cops had planted, you'd think they would want it 'accidentally' destroyed.
