No. I chose my words carefully. Anyone who watched Monday Night Football may have had access to gloves similar to the killer’s gloves. The question of who might have had access to THE killer’s gloves is a separate and muddled question (thus the "positively").
I assumed that Nicole purchased these gloves on December 18, 1990 because the stitching was so rare that they could only have come from the same batch. It seemed to me, at first, that the defense made a big deal out of a simple transposition error in the serial number. It turned out on cross-examination that Rubin (the prosecution’s glove expert) based his opinion on a rare, old machine that produced a rare stitch. The defense demonstrated that a newer machine could have produced an identical stitch with a serial number that matched the number on the bloody gloves and the one on Nicole’s receipt.
Moreover, the color of the gloves Nicole purchased was not indicated on the receipt. Both gloves could have been black. The killer’s gloves were dark brown. The gloves that Rubin identified as the killer’s gloves in a photo of O.J. holding a microphone were mink (a reddish brown). Therefore, the only positive identification of the killer’s gloves was the gloves themselves. Fuhrman was the only person in the case who could be POSITIVELY linked to both of THOSE gloves. –Jasper
