Joe!
What a delight to hear from you! I often think about you, your family and especially your father. Glad you made it to the site.
I haven’t been at Ford since my heart attack in 2001. I tried to go back to work but my supervisor forced me into an extended medical leave. The insurance company required me to apply for a medical retirement under penalty of not paying me (they didn’t send me a check for four months). After I won the lawsuit in June 2002 (moral victor/financial disaster). Ford denied the retirement and tried to fire me. I’ve been fighting with them ever since. The kept tying to force me to accept the “deadwood package.” No way.
I could have gotten $200,000 dollars in a settlement that included the deadwood package and an obligation to keep quit about what happened to people like me that led to the lawsuit – and Ford’s loss of over five billion dollars in one year. I am felling the pain but I am not sorry that I turned down the offer. I will not sign up to a lie for any amount of money. How many dollars would you sell your soul for?
Yes, I have been extremely busy. Sometimes it’s a struggle but all in all I can’t complain – except, of course, where Ford Motor Company is concerned. Our fight isn’t over, yet.
Trinitarian? I thought he said Unitarian. Maybe it stuck in my mind because he was so much against it. Who knows? Makes you wonder how many other wrong ideas you have floating around in your head just because you heard wrong in the first place or weren’t paying enough attention to get it straight.
Your dad and I did not agree on organized religion. I rejected all organized religions. The mere idea of attending a church appalled me. It still does. But I was very interested in what your dad had to say about HIS thoughts on God and spiritual matters in general. Glad you could full us in on some of the key ideas that I missed. Like you, I enjoyed the conversations I had with your father immensely. We talked about EVERYTHING and we also did a lot of teetering. If you don’t teeter now and then you can’t be doing much thinking.
I will check out the links you gave me and I hope to see you soon. –Jasper
