A: I ASKED MR. KAELIN IF THE WHITE BRONCO IN FRONT -- WHO IT BELONGS TO, AND HE SAID IT WAS O.J.'S, AND I ASKED HIM IF HE DROVE IT LAST NIGHT. BUT I BELIEVE BEFORE HE ANSWERED THAT, I THINK I ASKED HIM ANOTHER QUESTION.
Q: AND WHAT WAS THAT?
A: IF ANYTHING UNUSUAL HAPPENED LAST NIGHT.
Q: NOW, DID YOU TELL HIM ABOUT THE CRIME SCENE YOU'D JUST COME FROM AT 875 SOUTH BUNDY?
A: NO. I TOLD HIM NOTHING ABOUT BUNDY OR ANYTHING ELSE ABOUT ANY OBSERVATIONS.
Q: WHY IS THAT?
A: I DIDN'T KNOW WHO MR. KAELIN WAS.
Q: AND WHAT DIFFERENCE DID THAT MAKE?
A: WELL, YOU WOULD NEVER DISCUSS ANYTHING ABOUT A CASE EXCEPT WITH THE DETECTIVES UNTIL YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHO IS INVOLVED IN THE CASE OR WHAT INFORMATION THEY MIGHT BE ABLE TO ELICIT.
Q: KIND OF LIKE A STANDARD BEHAVIOR?
A: YES.
Q: ROUTINE THING? SO WHEN YOU ASKED HIM DID ANYTHING UNUSUAL HAPPEN THE NIGHT BEFORE, WHAT WAS HIS RESPONSE?
A: HE SAID ABOUT 10:45 P.M. THE PREVIOUS NIGHT, I BELIEVE HE SAID HE WAS TALKING ON THE PHONE. HE SAID HE HEARD A CRASH OR A THUMP ON HIS WALL. HE THOUGHT THERE WAS GOING TO BE AN EARTHQUAKE AND HIS PICTURE SHOOK.
And now, my friends, we have all that is publicly available and knowable about the moment in Kaelin's room when Fuhrman asked him about 'anything unusual'.
It seems to me -- though Jasepr will disagree because he is virtually obligated to -- that, of the six available descriptions of the event (MFs book, Eliott's book, Kaelin's criminal and civil trial testimonies, and Kaelin's deposition), the prepoderance of evidence is that Furhman asked routine questions, and Kaelin volunteered the information about the thumps.
Now, the ONLY other possibility is that Fuhrman said something like:"Did you hear any strange thumps against your wall last night?" or words to that effect. One would think that Kaelin would have been so astounded by such a question that he would surely remember it.
So, the ONLY anomalous version of the event is in Eliott's book. However, this version is of somewhat dubious pedigree, being hearsay. so the logical thing to do is declare that version bogus. I.E., Fuhrman asked the question, and Kaelin was the first to mention the noises.
Also note that either Elliott was in error on this point, or that Kaelin lied to him. Or committed perjury at the trials and his deposition.
