John, this is absurd.
For years you’ve been using quotes from Eliot’s book to support your theory that Kato committed the murders (glad you don’t think I did it). Now you’re telling us that the book is not readily available to you to see if you got everything right or to reexamine the context that your quotes came out off? When was the last time you looked at the book?
Nobody here is supposed to be trying to sell a theory by hook or crook. We get an idea and we test it to the extent that it is possible for us to do and see how it stands up. We look for flaws in our own theories and discover that sometime we made mistakes. We get our information from a particular source without realizing that there is a better source that contracts it. Our memories play tricks on us and tell us things that we only imagined we read. Whether we got it right or we slipped up somewhere doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters when you’re looking for the truth is finding it. That’s what Miss Marple is doing and what Lollie has generously offered to help all of us to do.
John, your explanation for not going to the library to get Eliot’s book is reasonable. The hassles for me in finding a library branch in or around Detroit that carries the book are greater than they are for you. On the other hand, if you got your information from a library book or the book you had originally is otherwise not at your immediate disposal, why do you insist on using it as the cornerstone for your theory? I'm not trying to imply that you don't have a good explanation. I'd just like to know what it is. –Jasper
