When I was about 8 years old, I lived in Columbus, Georgia. It was very HOT and this was the day before AC in houses or much anywhere else for that matter. Jasper will know when this was because from one of his postings, I realized I am one year younger than he.
It was nighttime and I was sleeping with my head at the foot of the bed so I would be near the open window.
Outside my window (several feet up) was a ghost like dog that just stood there. It didn't move. It looked like Lassie standing sideways --facing to the left. It went on for a long long time. I finally went to sleep.
We did not have a dog. I had allergies and we never had one. There was only one dog like that in the neighborhood and it belonged to a family named Adams who lived on the corner.
The next day I had pretty much forgotten the dog incident except for it going thru my mind every once in a while. We (the kids) were all playing in the Adams' yard when one of these thoughts came to me and I looked around for the dog who usually was out playing with us. When I didn't see it, I asked one of the ADams' kids about the dog and was told that it had died the night before.
I just about went into hyperventalation being only 8 years old. I didn't say anything to the other kids but made an excuse and hotfooted it home.
I never told my parents or anybody about this but recall it to this day. I later learned that had I told my Dad he would have not laughed but would have taken it seriously. But 8 year olds do not usually know the ins and outs of their parents' beliefs.
The dog that night did not move in any way or look at me. It looked like a dark white (not see thru) cut out of the dog but glowing --sorta.
