Jasper, YOu know what happened to Lexington's best and brightest for over 30 years with the wink and nod of the totally Democrat controlled city council?
We had a guy named Ron Berry. He was one of several children---all who had good jobs with the city government in one way or another.
He started a Micro City Government for young teenagers. (starting at 11 or 12 til about 18) It was to teach them leadership skills and about government. They had a "mayor" etc made up of the children. Mr. Berry is a Black man who had pull in the city so he got this paid for by the city council. He was caught repeatedly dipping into the till yet it never shut down. Later the city was caught giving him Fed. money--after an FBI investigation caused that the Feds couldn't give anymore money.
HERE is the kicker though. Mr. Berry is a pedophile and has molested and sexual abused hundreds of young Boys and girls over the 30 plus years.
There is evidence that the Democrat mayors KNEW this as well as many of the city council members.
Mr. Berry is now in jail---after 2 mistrials here in Lexington with mainly African American jurors.
The children who came to the Micro City were Black. He bought them gifts for sexual favors, gave them tickets to concerts. Etc. There is evidence that the parents KNEW about Berry but they never kept their kids away and protested in the street when he went on trial.
HIs trial finally had to go to Louisville and even then he got about 5 years for molesting untold numbers of children.
Report to the police? His BROTHER was with the police department in CHARGE of sex crimes against children.
Parents? He had several siblings who worked in city government who could have gotten the parents fired.
This man drove around with a big car and 2 body guards. There is evidence that once the kids got to be 18, he got them into criminal activity at his direction.
One former mayor (Scotty Baesler who later became a US congressman) was told point blank in his office what Berry was doing and his response was "I don't care who he is screwing".
About a year ago, a conservative who was a one term council member ran for mayor and told that he had learned in his one term that the city council had in fact known about Berry and never withdrew the financing..and that there had been an FBI investigation with a recommendation to not fund and barring Fed money to him.
When this conservative mayor candidate came forward---he was blasted by the Dem members and the Dem newspaper---as "putting the city at liability" for lawsuits. The person who did win--narrowly is one who was involved of the coverup of Ron Berry for a couple of decades.
The lawsuits are pending against the city.
Now explain to me WHY the black community would have put up with that?
The so-called liberal do-gooders FININACED his sexual crimes.
To report the crimes, the kids had to go to the State Police. If they went to the police in Lexington, Ron Berry learned of the complaints before the ink dried due to his brother being in charge of the department.
Now, think about it--over 30 years and they estimate his victims run into the hundreds. And not only the sex crimes--he then got them into crime by blackmailing them into it.
Did the Black community rise up against him? Nope, they picketed outside the courthouse--with signs that said the white man was trying to bring down a black man.
All the majority Dem mayor and city council is worried about is their liability.
I would Not be at least surprised if he returned to Lexington after his jail term and was given this kind of power again.
