I am getting tired of every little comment that someone makes being called racist.
Case in point. I taught school and it is no secret that African American children (in general) have trouble in school. In some cases, a LOT of trouble in school. BUT the problem is that teachers and others who are assigned to task of helping them catch up or improve the problem can't really discuss what the "reasons" are. To even discuss it at times labels a person a racist.
To me that is ignoring the problem and doing nothing to help the problem.
One of the worst factors is a general attitude with the ones that I had in school was that to learn and succeed in school was to "act white" and they just didn't do any school work. Didn't do any homework nor any studying.
Of course, this attitude came from their homes and families and there was precious little we teachers could do about that.
Or we could do little about the kids who lived in the projects who were up all night because the windows were opened and they were too hot to sleep and the noise in the neighborhood kept them awake. The next day, they wanted to sleep the day long.
NOr could we do anything about the high illigetimacy rate or the lack of 2 parent families.
Many of the causes were just things we teachers could do nothing about.
And there are other things like high drug usage and violence in the neighborhoods, etc.
We couldn't discuss this. Much of it was social or cultural in nature.
What I am waiting for is the Black leaders in the community to work on this themselves. White people going into the community and trying to tell them what to do and how to do it will go over like a lead balloon.
ABout the Arabs--Muslims that is. I get your point but we can be too casual about it and not careful enough. Letting some now known groups with ties to terrorism recommend which mullahs to use with the ones in Cuba was STUPID.
Letting these same groups be the ones to send mullahs into the prisons to recruit is another stupid move.
I am just saying that we can't ASSUME that they are harmless as we have done in so many of the cases.
As I mentioned before when a so-called Moderate who had been Praised for his moderation says he can't WAIT til our country is overthrown and an Islamic flag flies over the nation---we have a problem.
When we -because it is politically correct--harass old people in wheelchairs and young children- at airports but deliberately let the Arabic man between the ages of 20 and 40 walk by without being checked out--we are being Stupid.
