Jasper, I don't disagree but have probably not explained myself very well.
There are those who promote and divide using ethnic backgrounds. Sure there is power in that but there is also danger in that.
I do not mean to ignore cultural or ethnic backgrounds but to promote them to the exclusivity over being American citizens is very very dangerous.
There have been those--thru multicultralism who have deliberated "pitted" one group against another. And I don't mean in historical time-I mean in the last 20 years and esp. during the 90's.
Clinton and Dems in charge did a lot of it. When someone (like the Justice Dept of the US) questions the taking of foreign Chinese money and it is declared "Asian bashing" to keep the investigation from gaining legs. That is pitting one cultural group against another. When in fact it JUST investigating whether a foreign country tried to influence US policy thru contributions.
And there are many other examples of it.
Even after 9-ll, some tried to shut down investigations into suspicious Muslim activity that might be connected to sleeper cells by calling it racial profiling.
And illegal immigration is the current hot potato that certain groups promote to the danger of the US---because they want votes.
Immigration used to be handled by allowing so many in at a time, waiting til they assimilated into the society, learned English, got settled and then allowing more in. There was actually a program to teach American history to them so they would be more grounded.
That is not what is happening today. We are getting overtaken by people from 3rd World countries whose experience is communism or dictatorships, coups instead of elections to change governments, etc.
That's just fine if you don't care that our Constitution and presence as a freedom loving country goes down the drain.
And before you or anyone else calls me a racist (another tactic used when someone brings up illegal immigration or mass immigration w/out assimilation), let me say I don't care what color they are or where they come from. That isn't the point. The POINT is that in these countries the Rule of Law is far far LESS than what it is here. Courts are a pure joke. People are "disappeared".
I heard a man who is a so-called "moderate" Islamic say the other day that he couldn't wait til more Arabs come and when the Islamic flag flies over the capital and the US is an Islamic state. Doesn't sound much like they are interested in Assimilating, does it?
I have an American friend who lives and works in Mexico and he tells me from living there that he sees and hears President Fox talk of the PLAN to send millions up here. He says it is obvious that they are Dumping their problems on us. He says that the ones being SENT here are the mixed race (Indians) and not the "pure' Mexicans. Fox states openly that he wants theme to be dual citizens and be able to VOTE in both countries. Fox does NOT admit that there is a border. To him it does not exist (except Their way) And he stats publicly that these are NOT illegals. He refuses to call them illegals. My friend tells me also that he has to jump thru Mexican government "hoops' every 3 months in order to stay and work in Mexico with his Mexican wife and children. THEY are EXTREMELY harsh and strict about Americans who go down there but think we should just let anybody at all come to the US.
Mexican activists openly state that they want CA to become a separate Hispanic state. I have seen quotes saying the same thing from elected Hispanic officials in CA.
All this makes NO sense to me.
I have heard some activists say the PLAN is to populate the ENTIRE SW and then reclaim the western part of the US for Mexico by ANY means necessary.
Yet there are some that say "let them come"--"send more".
There is going to be a very huge backlash on this. Already they are talking in CA of letting ILLEGALS go to college for FREE....while US citizens or Legal immigrants have to PAY.
What's wrong with this picture?
And when in LA alone the cost of healthcare for ILLEGALS is 340 MILLION dollars per year--can you imagine what it is nationwide?

You think Californians and others are going to be HAPPY when illegals can go to college for free when they --as citizens--have to pay?
You think they are going to be happy with more and more taxes to support an underclass of illegals?
I know our city is not happy with the Health Dept budget going for 4 million to 11 million in one year due to the strain of the 40,000 illegals that have decided to make their home in our city? (in less than 3 years?)
There is nothing wrong with being a Mexican-American, an Italian American, an Asian American--etc. to identify with culture but when that designation gives people Special priviledges --well, that is something different and will not promote cultural and racial harmony but will split this country---six ways to Sunday.
