Jean,

I stand on better ground here than Charlie or Chandler do because I despise George Bush as much as you do and I don’t trust his motives. However, the people who targeted us for the 911 attack in 2001 when Bush was president were the some jokers who targeted our embassies (us) in Africa in 1999 when our Commander in Chief was Bill Clinton. And do we really have to go into the history and the worldview of the Talaban?

Jean, these are not nice guys who will be nice to you if you will be nice to them. They are religious bigots, like the 13th Century “Christian” Crusaders determined to impose their version of Islam on the entire world. They weren’t just spoiling for a fight against the United States, they were preparing for it as far back as 1979 when Jimmy Carter was President and Carter was helping them fight the Soviet Union. Throughout the entire ‘80s and ‘90s (Regan, Bush Sr. and Clinton) the United States sat back and watched bullies all over the world invade their neighbors and murder their own people by the millions in the name of peace — our peace.

France, of all counties, stepped in to stop the killing in Rwanda. All of the big powers ignored the killing in Bosnia. The U.S. stepped in to stop the killing in Somalia only when international bad press forced Bush Sr. to do it. It took one bloody battle to bring our fighting men home. When Clinton became President, it took only a gang of thugs standing on a pier in Haiti waving guns to turn around a shipload of US Army combat engineers. The sorry was, these Americans were not combat troop. Bullshit. Combat engineers ARE combat troops. I know I was a combat engineer.

From 1976 to 1999 the only time the U.S. sent American’s to fight anywhere was when the outcome was certain, our projected casualty count was low or it was in our immediate best interest to do so (the first Gulf War). I can’t live like that.

Jean, I’m a pretty big guy. I don’t pick fights with people and the few times people picked fights with me since I got out of the Army in 1972 I didn’t back down (don’t know how to do that) and there was no fight. The other guys backed down. I did not intend to scuffle with some clown who thought he could beat me or intimidate me just because he flashed a weapon. I was fully prepared to kill him. I think is showed. --Jasper
