Jasper, I am not looking for a disagreement. But I can get plenty of them. I do not "understand" this. Perhaps I grew up a different way than someone else. It isn't age because some who disagree are older than me and had what I would think a similiar childhood.

I pride myself in thinking that I have common sense in these issues. And it is just not common sense to be a Dove in these issues---whether it be the child rapist on the street you mention or Pearl Harbor or 9-11.

Both China and Russia's leaders have said in the past that they wouldn't attack us on our soil because every household has a gun and are willing to fight hand to hand for freedom.

Why then, are people trying to totally disarm the American people and make it Politically Incorrect to believe in defending your family and your country?

And why are people downing the military and acting as though people in the military are some sub-human class of people? Don't they know the military is the only thing between us and enemies?

I refrained from mentioning Clinton but since you did---think of his not allowing people into the White House in their uniforms, using high ranking officers to serve as waiters at WH get-togethers, barring military music from being played at the WH and not allowing military music to be played when he visited military bases. Or putting up with a young Chelsea refusing to ride in a limo with a member of the Chief of Staff because he had a uniform on--and pitched such a fit til this officer voluntarily went to another limo.

I don't understand that attitude nor do I understand why Americans actually put up with it from him.

We are at war with people who don't wear uniforms, who don't care who they kill nor how many or if they are soldiers are civilians. They have a plan as documented in papers that have been found to come to the US, blend in, become citizens and wait to be called up for a mission.

We have never had an enemy like this and it calls for different procedures. Like it or not, seemingly ordinary citizens of Arab or Muslim backgrounds have to be checked out with caution. It may not seem fair to some but it is a fact of life.

We have CA and other states giving illegals driver's licenses. Hispanics aren't the ONLY illegals around you know. And some of the 9-11 hijackers got around using driver's licenses.

During WW2, we didn't let people from Japan and from Germany travel here willy nilly without being checked out. Why should be cave in and let any and all Arab Muslims or Muslims do that?

I am sure you have read that there is now a problem with the Muslims (some) in the military. And there is at least one Muslim FBI agent who has been allowed to NOT follow orders if it involves a Muslim that is being investigated. Things that would be a firing offense for others because it shows a preference for Muslims over the US. More loyalty to the "home" country than to the US.

THAT is another problem we are having. We are getting far too many people here who have more loyalty to the home country than to the USA. They are coming here, becoming citizens but refusing to learn English and show a definite preference to the old country. I thought the oath of alligance when you became a citizen was to foresake the old country. Doesn't seem to be working that way these days.

I liked your Pearl Harbor example of the one person who voted against war becoming president later. I shutter to think that any of the current crop of Dems who are so vocal now and pretending that they didn't really vote for military action against Iraq or other things becoming president and we have another 9-11.

Finally, I saw the most interesting thing on OReilly a while back. Margaret Carlson who I think appears on NPR and PBS and other places said she was THRILLED that Bush was president and not Gore. OReilly said he thought Gore would have done the same as Bush in the aftermath. She said, no he wouldn't have. It would have been more of the "it was a crime" and let the FBI handle it.

I think part of the problem is that US school kids are not being taught history as we were. I know. I taught school and I saw how more and more US History was left out or it was a "revisionist" version of history.

Studying WORLD history would tell us not to get a large percentage of people into our country who are not loyal but are loyal to the "home' country. I am afraid too many of our leaders and voters missed out on THAT chapter.
