Jasper, I read only recently about Jimmy Carter saying that he was a Dove and that he would not go to war under ANY circumstances.
Geez! I sure wish we had known that before he was elected president. I voted for him....which I later regretted.
I don't think it is a good idea at all for a DOVE to be president---esp. one who says that they won't go to war under ANY circumstances.
There are circumstances where WAR is appropriate. It might even be the only OPTION that preserves the US as a country. Having a person who says they wouldn't go to war under ANY circumstances is DANGEROUS.
I worry that so many (most) of the Dem candidates appear to be Doves---or at least are stating a sheer ignorance of the connection with terrorists and danger to the USA. People who show an ignorance of the danger from terrorists even now--even from ones already inside the US and just waiting for an opportunity.
Just one attack at a fast food store (a bomb or shooting) or a grocery store---would shut down the economy again --just like it did with the airlines.
There is this strange mindset of it's over so "let's move on".
It reminds me of the first WTC bombing--let's move on. Or the Cole bombing--Let's move on. Or the embassies--or the military quarters in Saudi and many more---Let's move on. Treat it like an isolated crime.
Doves have their place but as president of the USA is not one of them.
