Buster, ……...You are the best speculator in this group. I tend to get too bogged down in trying to make to many things fit before I try to speculate. Not a good way to pick up on things that aren’t already on the table. I have made some exceptions like the sports betting theory below. I’m looking for wide-open speculation here before I start trying to rule anything in or out of where I want to go next. See what you can do with this: ……….In the simplest terms, the Iago hypothesis says that the Bundy murders were a grisly publicity stunt to promote the name Mark Fuhrman at O.J. Simpson’s expense (people don’t by books, they buy names). According to Iago, Fuhrman set out to make a big name for himself as soon as he left the Marine Corps in 1975. He experimented with different was to do it for almost a decade before zeroing in on O.J. I figured that his first probes started in the fall of 1984 and involved a large wager he made and lost on the 1984 Word Series. I used Fuhrman’s ’85 date for the baseball bat incident because that’s when I thought he went there after studying O.J. and Nicole for a long time. ………I thought that the key to testing this idea about the high stakes gambling angle was to find the actual date that Fuhrman went to Rockingham to see if it corresponded to the anniversary of the ’84 World Series or shortly thereafter. Turns out his Rockingham visit WAS in the fall of ’84 ………All of this sports betting stuff was still just speculation. It was based mainly on Fuhrman’s risk-taking personality, the common denominator in his list of “favorite” athletes, his baseball metaphors and the name of the pitcher on the losing team. I thought that he picked Forman because he was black, his name was close to Fuhrman, he couldn’t name his real favorite (Detroit Tiger Ty Cobb) and he won the most money on him with his astounding comeback victory in a championship fight. I thought he picked Jordan and Bird because they led their teams in defeating the Detroit Pistons in playoff games where he won a bundle and got “revenge” on the city (Detroit) that cost him a bundle in ’84. ……….I had no concrete link between Fuhrman and sports betting. Now, thanks to Joe Bosco, we learn that Fuhrman bought a house across the street from a house with a convoluted paper trail leading to sports betting and O.J. Simpson. As Ludwig observed that’s an expensive investment in the future. I’m thinking that he expected it to pay off within a couple of years at the most but kept getting foiled by one thing after another that he didn’t anticipate and couldn’t control until he finally put it all together in 1994. ………Suppose, for the sake of argument, that O.J. was not involved in illegal sports betting or pornography in the Redondo Beach house but mobsters constructed a paper trail to make it look that way and Fuhrman followed it the way Joe Bosco did. Suppose he set up surveillance on O.J. and Kardashian and made large bets though bookies he thought could be connected to O.J to catch him dirty only to discover that he wasn’t – and to discover HOW he had been fooled. Then he tried to catch him in a big drug deal only to find that he was too late, that O.J. had given it up but Nicole hadn’t. Hummmmm…. ……..Does any of this stimulate your speculation bones? --Jasper
