Listening to Air America Radio yesterday and heard a host read from a dispatch taken off the Blackwater site, if memory serves...the author was extolling the way his company had provided for the creature comforts of his deployed unit in the New Orleans "campaign." Tents, hot showers, toilet facilities and hot meals were provided almost overnight; big sleeping tents for ten or twelve men--not domed, cramped quarters with cots set side-by-side in a facility meant to entertain sports fans where the lights are never extinguised day or night; apparently, daily cold meals are served on disposable metal trays with paper cups for portioned-out liquids, no doubt.... And who may I ask is paying for this excess to armed mercenaries with no loyalty to any entity save their corp headquarters and an inflated pay scale that even a Hollywood extra would envy? If they are under contract to "Homeland Security" (which I dub Homeland Obscurity because it is hiding the truth from the American people), the funds are coming, once again, from public coffers. And I understand that the requirements for these little private armies are very, very lax. Some recruits are recent graduates from our penal systems. I suppose they make excellent paramilitia types because they lack the human component to perhaps question the legality of their mission or the morality of its execution. And so it goes in Bush's America. ....Some organization would do a big public service to keep an eye on the inhabitants of these government-run facilities where the evacuees are living in forced confinement. I am interested in learning statistics on how many Black families are being repatriated into foster homes across the country or resettled into trailer parks as opposed to the Whites who escaped in their SUVs and family vans ahead of the catastrophy. Aren't you all??? Don't rely on the Red Cross; they are being co-opted into the ruse. Their own employees are being overheard making racial slurs against Black New Orleans survivors. An e-mail to Mike Malloy (Radio host at Air America) cited a complaint from a volunteer at a site in Florida; the woman had sent a message of protest to Red Cross headquarters naming the employee and asking for her to be disciplined. (Or perhaps forced to take some kind of sensitivity training before resuming her work to resettle victims of Katrina.) I gave my donation to the Salvation Army. I hear ACORN charities might be a better organ to distribute aid as it is less trussed up by a huge bureauocracy. The Red Cross has already taken in a half billion dollars, I think. With that kind of money to spread around, the human genome tends to be fraught with corruption and/or incompetance. It may go into the RNC reelection campaigns-lol...marilyn
