I was just listening to talk radio and they were discussing an article on a study where women these days really miss having a protective and strong guy when all they can find is whimpy men.
I think this is an off-shoot of the Feminist movement. Guys got into a position where they were forced to NOT open doors for women and any number of other things. They had to show their "feelings' more, etc. We all know the routine.
What utterly amazes me these days is this striving to be the metrosexual man. For one thing it sounds like he only has sex in the city or on a bus or train.
What it means is being as much like a gay man as possible (concerned with looks, clothes, design, house style and furniture, etc.) but be straight. Such is the roots of the tv show Queer Eye. I didn't make this definition (or the sterotype) but it is part and parcel of the definitio of metrosexual.
These "guys" have the problem of being mistaken for being gay and attract the unwanted attention of gay men. Why would you strive for that?
Even Howard Dean said he was a metrosexual. Just what we want in a president. A man who is attractive to gay men.
Not that I want a cave man type but this excessively feminine type man is far from what is attractive to me.
I would like a man to at least appear to be able to defend his family--either verbally or physically.
You know. I didn't see much wrong with (and still don't) the guy being afraid to mistreat his date because the girl's father or brother might take him out behind the woodshed.
What say you?
