Wizard of Oz

Shortly after Dorothy meets the Scarecrow, she gets a firsthand demonstration of his failure to do his job. He cannot scare crows. A crow makes the point by landing on his shoulder, ignoring his shoo and boo words then taking wing when it feels like it cawing in the way that crows  caw as it flies out of sight.

You never see a crow in Fuhrman's movie. You hear one, though, in two places -- or a crow in one place and a raven, perhaps, in another (ravens sound much like crows and mimic other birds). You hear it the instant you see Martha's body and during Fuhrman's walk from his car to the Skakel gardener's greenhouse.
