Polls can be made to reflect whatever the agency wants them to reflect.
And Bush isn't Satan either. You may notice that I rarely if ever even mention Bush. Does he do all of what I would like for him to? No. Do I agree with everything he does? No. Do I think he is a saint? No.
However, I do think he is doing a good job now and am very glad he is president and not Clinton nor Gore. This is the same sentiment that I have read that many Dems in Congress feel.
Why? Because the Clinton Administration had opportunity after opportunity to go after Bin Laden and didn't. (it is true the Reps didn't help matters).
He had his administration treat the numerous attacks as law enforcement problems. Even though Bin Laden had made a specific threat to the USA none of these attacks were considered to be anything but 'crimes".
And I believe that the EgyptAir, The TWA 800 and perhaps the SwissAir were terrorist attacks and they were buried under a pile of lies in order NOT to do anything about them.
I also believe that the FBI ignored the Middle East connections to the Okla City Bombing. All for political reasons.
In order to do this, he and his administration had to have the help of the FBI and the CIA and certain members of the Congress and Senate--on both sides. I am not absolving them of blame.
Peace with Clinton? At what price? Appeasement and ignoring attacks against us so he could go after the Nobel Peace Prize.
Louis Freeh has publicly stated that Clinton himself tied his hands in going after the bombers of the Khobar Towers. That wasn't done until Bush got into office although they knew who did it.
Peace? I think you are forgetting Somalia, Bosnia, and Kosovo. And that continued problems with Iraq resulted in very large holes bombed into very empty deserts as retaliation.
Or bombings at night into empty tents in the Afgan desert or innocent aspirin factories done against the recommendations of the Joint Chief of Staff where part of the group was not told about it and Gore wasn't told.
What needs to be understood is that these terrorist groups are a threat to to World or any non-Muslim country---even moderate Muslim countries. They want Saudi and other countries to be just like them. They have had targets in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Belgum, and many other countries. Don't forget the African Embassies.
And if you think that Clinton or Gore would have been "allowed" to handle this situation any differently after the Sept. 11th attacks. Dream on.
And those Barbara Lee types and the Cynthia McKinney types are an embarrassment. Lee has chummed up to communist dictators for years and so has McKinney. She was the one who asked the Saudi millionaire for the money that Mayor Rudy G. turned down and apologized for him. SHE has gone to Cuba and picked sugar cane with Castro.
It is time to be realistic here. We may have thousands of sleepers here just waiting for their opportunity. They may be the ones sending all the hoax anthrax letters or the real letters that are killing people. We don't know yet.
