Diane,
You know I have for some time now had a concern over the immigrants--the illegal ones.
I have no problem with a legal, orderly influx of immigrants to the USA. Especially those who intend to become citizens and throw their loyalty to the USA and abandon the "garbage' that they bring from their home countries.
Up until the 11th, I was concerned about the Arabs from the terror countries but had the most concerns about the Mexican border. But then again, I did not know at that time just how bad it was (17,000 young men from the terror countries here on student visas alone). Nor did I know how many failed to show up at school or that they lost total contact with within days of them arriving.
I have heard that there are as many as 15 million illegals. Not is NOT 15 million immigrants (that would be another total altogether). This is illegals in the USA at this time from a multitude of countries.
From a National Security standpoint alone, this is extremely dangerous. I can't even imagine anyone thinking this is a proper and safe or even reasonable thing to allow.
We have heard a lot about the sleepers from the Arab countries but we also have a great many sleepers (trained in military tactics by the Chineese in Mexico) who have come here to be in place for the time when Mexico gets a leader or the timing is right for them to "take back" the Southern US for Mexico. We even have elected officials who are HIspanic--like the present Lt. Gov. of California who has expressed support of CA becoming a separate Hispanic country. Although I have not heard any current stats on it, in the early part of this year, there had already been about 8 or "border skirmishes" where the border patrol of Mexico had "exchanged fire" with the border patrol of the US.
We also know that the drug cartels are sending Mexicans up to LA and other cities to join in the "gangs" and to set up "drug' networks.
That whole situation has "Bosnia" written all over it or more accurately Kosovo written all over it.
We have been Hellbent on some policies that just aren't in the best interests of the US.
Our own "freedoms" have been used against us.
The 'charity" or "activist" groups in the US from some ethnic group or from some religous group have been free to collect money (many times behind the scenes) in order to work AGAINST us...to support terrorism or to support this taking Southern US back for Mexico or for a separate country to be made of California--by any means necessary as they say.
There is something "stupid' about allowing literally millions of people walk across the southern border without documentation.
Heretofore, anybody bringing this up was labled a racist. And that is far far from the truth. I would feel the same if it were people from Canada (who have a socialist mindset that might damage our representative republic) or from the UK or any other "white" country.
Just a little reading of history shows us that throughout history countries that have had huge influxes of foreign cultures who come not to assimulate but to remain separate or who have a political difference with the country they are "invading", has in the long run caused the downfall of that country or a severe civil war.
I have discussed with you before the small town in Arkansas spotlighted on 60 Minutes a year or so ago. They got a HUGE influx of Hispanics to work in the chicken plant there. Instead of "growing" the city--it bankrupted it. For one thing, the influx of people came suddenly and quickly in a short period of time. There wasn't any housing, medical services, fire dept. services, police services, schools, classrooms, teachers, etc. to "handle" the huge sudden influx of people. The town had no warning. Had no time to plan or make any kind of arrangements. They were a city "drowning" in so-called progress. Nor did they have the tax base of money to "hire" people, build schools, hire doctors and nurses, etc. The little town suddenly became a "third world" city with shack cities and tent cities. Or 10 people living in a small apartment or house. The emergency room had lines out the building and own the block. The doctors couldn't "see" all the patients that arrived each day.
All due to NO proper consideration for what was going to happen when these folks "just starting arriving one day".
In the classrooms, the children were sharing desks and sitting on top of each other.
The same situation would have happened if this had been ANY group of people (who spoke English) but these were non-English speaking people for the most part. The doctors, nurses, the police, etc., etc. couldn't speak Spanish and that brought a whole another level to the situation.
It left the small town scrambling to locate and intice Spanish speaking people to the community to work in this area.
To finish up here--I could go on and on at what a ridiculous situation this is and how it lacks such basic common sense --but I won't.
I have no problem as I saw with common sense and legal methods of immigrants coming here with the proper planning.
However, this unrestrained pouring over our borders of millions of people is an altogether different story.
