Motives, resuts

In order to understand a person, group or country, we have to understand the motivation behind an act. Since we can't read minds and the spoken motivation is usually far from the true motivation, then we can only deduce it from the results of the act.

Now the best illustration that I can think of will make some of you scream fowl. But it is a good example. Now a battered wife, gets away from the batterer and then goes back. Nearly everyone of them says that it is (motivation) because of love. But any sane person sees that this is not love. People who love people do not hurt people. So what is the motivation for her going back? Look at the results of being battered. Now you will find few women who have any idea of their real motivation. So if you look at a battered woman what are the results. For one thing she gets a lot of sympathy. For another if in a church that says the wife should stick with the marriage, she becomes the good wife who sticks thru thick and thin. Kinda of a religious marter. For another her bruises show what brutes men are.

Now we are starting to get to the true motivations, although she has no concious awarness of them.

So to work to solve this battering cycle one needs to understand this and hopefully to get her to understand and stop feeding into her game. You stop giving her sympathy, point out the church cares not a wit about her as a person, etc. You destroy her sacred cows. And hopefully get her to accept positive strokes instead of negetive ones to feel alive. Of course this does not apply to all battered women, In any situation there are exceptions to the rule.

Just as the battered woman saying it is because of love is too simplistic, so too is saying that the motivation of the terriost is envy of our freedom. That is kind of a teen age girl thing, How many times have I heard this from some tramp on Jerry Springer.

First you got to see that a lot of scared cows, are really just cows. Hard to do. Then you got to look at the results to find the motivation. Of both sides not only the terriosts but our governments response to it. Look whats happening, look at the results. First a lot of our citizens rights are being flushed down the crapper, while we wave the flag and concentrate on things that are short term and don't look at the effects that are long term.

It is kinda like suicide, a short term solution to a long term problem, but it is fatal.

We on this board would never have thought that OJ was not guilty if police had been a sacred cow to us. No we knew they were just cows. Some good, a lot not. We would have never have found the lies and manipulations. We would have believed the pundents and 6 o'clock news and said the jury was stupid. It is time to step back and look at the real picture not just the one that the media is feeding us. I read a lot of foreign press, a bit different from ours. I read a lot of first hand accounts of people at ground zero, a lot different from what we have been told. And as strange as it may seem some of the very right wing sites are also giving a differnt story than we see on TV. I am spending my time looking at the other side of the picture, and if only a fraction of it is true. Our leaders hands are as muddy as any terriost. And it is time we woke up to the real motivations and what the long term results is going to do to our country.
