Not sure about the Crusaders not being true Christians. What I am getting at is that what they believed was the majority thinking of the Christians of that day. At the time, except for a few sects like the Cathers, Christianity was the Catholic Church. The Crusaders were sponsered by the kings who were anonited by the Church.
Now there is evidence that the Crusaders were really working for the type of Christians that were the Cathers while acting like they were working for the kings.
Some things that I have been reading lately is that the real beef that the Catholic church had with the Cathers was that the Cathers said that Jesus was married and that women were equals in his viewpoint. So it was more about sexism than anything else.
it is also thought that the Crusaders were also looking for. protecting the HOly Grail. which may have been not a cup, but a geneiology record. All but a handful of our presidents have been decendents of this bloodline starting with George Washington. George Washington had an extra Y chromozone. The same thing that they have found that many criminals have.
I should have put this first. I have no idea if this is true or not, and don't know what it has to do with anything.
Now I want to state this. It is not what is true that motivates people but what they believe is true that motivates them. To understand people, you got to understand this. And it may sound ignorant or ridiculous to you or me, but it is not to them.
