Your right but consider what caused the invasion of Poland. Some prisoners of the Germans were dressed up as Polish soldiers and placed into a radio station as a fake attack on said radio station to rationalize the invasion of Poland. I haven't believed the Government since like Jasper said, 1979 with the October Surprise. I believe like Afghanistan Iran Terrain was a real problem for invasion which was shown when we tried to rescue our hostages. At the time when the Embassy was invaded and hostages taken, there were problems here domestically that made declaring war a bit difficult. We had just had only a few years since the disasterous end to the Vietnam War. It was a different time and place. Different priorities. Bad choices were made because of the weariness of the American People. That was then this is now. When going to war one must look at history to see why it is ill advised to actually invade Afghanistan. The Country itself has been taken over by the Talaban. Now when they began destroying precious Buddahs that had stood for so long few know exactly how many thousands of years, the World should have stood up against them then and stopped them before this happened. But we all stood helplessly like now and allowed them to destroy priceless art. Now I know how lame this sounds, however if you stop a minute, a person who will destroy priceless art for Religion is capable of anything. Maybe we should also ask ourselves how come people were more angry and upset in surrounding Countries of Afghanistan about the destruction of the Buddahs than over six thousand people dead in the United States.
By The Way, for the record. Six Uncles fought in World WarTwo, My Mother's cousin was shot down and killed over France in World War Two, My Great Great Grandfather was almost killed nine months into the Civil War on the Union Side with a saber to the face. My Cousin came within literally minutes of being killed in Vietnam in Da Nang during a bombing. He has never recovered from that War as he just is a shell of who he was. My Great Great Great Grandfather fought in the War of 1812 and his father during the Revolutionary war not to mention fighting in the French and Indian War before that. Who knows what wars they were in in Germany. Does a response need to be done? Yes. But lets make it a response the WORLD will never forget so this never happens again. I don't have the answers but I prefer to die before my Nephews and Nieces. i have lost 24 people in as many months, actually not quite two years has passed although 24 people have died so I have been grieving for a long time. My Stepmother was last July, last month was a longtime very close neighbor. This helped prepare me for this shock but not even close to such destruction. I am not going to lie, with all the surgeries and all I have been through I am absolutly terrified of Nuckear War, Can't help it, I have been afraid of it since October 1962.
