Miss Marple,

One qualification....

Fuhrman couldn't have planted the Bundy glove or the stick (for several reasons). Brad Roberts could have. He had a homicide car (with a homicide kit - rubber gloves, blue plastic bags, gauze pads, coin envelopes) to himself until he hooked up with Fuhrman on Rockingham. That was AFTER Fuhrman "found the glove." The stick was in the wrong place to work with Fuhrman's story and he was too observant not to know it. But it had to be there when he arrived with the other detectives and he went with the story anyway. He "couldn't let go."

I have no doubt that the glove was supposed to look like it was planted. That was Fuhrman's real alibi (for the defense; the prosecution would never officially believe that it was planted). If Fuhrman found the glove on Bundy and planted it on Rockingham he couldn't be the killer. No one could ever prove that he planted it because he didn't. His partner did.

However, I'm pretty sure that the evidence bag (or a piece of it) gave him a nasty turn because it wasn't supposed to be there. He had to do something on the spot to neutralize the impact. I think you figured out what he did (I was never quite able to work that one out). This was the only piece of evidence on Rockingham not collecting by Fung or Mazzola. Mazzola wouldn't say who turned it in. Fung did. -- Jasper
