In a classic 1933-'34 ESP study conducted by J. B. Rhine at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, a test subject exhibited the first measurable evidence of ESP. The study is known as the Pearce-Pratt series. Pearce was a divinity student who believed he had inherited his mother's psychic gifts. Using the now famous Zener cards (star, circle, cross, square, wavy lines - five each) that a research assistant named Pratt, in another building, tuned up at random, Pearce got 558 hits in 1,850 trials.
What do you think the odds were of Pearce getting that many hits out of that many trials (Take your best guess and DON'T CHEAT!)?
a) One in 25. b) One in 22 hundred. c) One in 47 thousand d) One in 16 million e) One in 22 billion
