Jasper,
Thank you for the introduction to Wizard of OZ. A lot of things to think about there. Like the three clicks with the shoes, thump, thump, thump.
I think you are too kind to call Fuhrman's tantrums his "infantil core", they are more like "the terrible twos". I've been looking through his book to find more tantrums and there are plenty. And he is proud of them!!!
The whole chapter on York is a tantrum. "While York was making her statement, I was talking with another policeman in the back of the room and trying to ignore the lieutenant as much as possible. Unfortunately I spoke loudly in response to my friend's conversation..... "
When York asks him to sign a comment card: "I could not contain my anger. "Not only will I not sign, I won't even acknowledge it or you." I said."
The chapter on Darden is full of tantrums too. "I didn't like this situation, and I didn't cooperate the way I know they wanted me to. Consciously I changed my demeanor; I felt vulnerable and showed my irritability. At one point I became so detached from participating in the session that I began eating a submarine sandwich while the attorneys were talking among themselves."
When he describes the prepping sessions with Darden I visualize Fuhrman as a little brat (cap with propeller and all) sitting in the chair opposite Darden. Since Darden isn't the most cheerful person either those hours must have been rather grim.
