Everything about Fuhrman's "normal" emotional reactions to the pain of others appears to be contrived. This is even scarier to me than a run of the mill, kill crazy psychopath. I think Fuhrman is a sociopath, like the young playwright in Death Trap and the little girl in The Bad Seed.
Fuhrman is not just a good liar, he's a great liar. But you can tell when he's lying about emotions like empathy and compassion because he doesn't seem to know what they are. He's like the space aliens in Invasion of the Body Snatchers. He can duplicate the surface appearance of a sensitive soul but he can't generate it from his own feelings. That's why I think so much of what he does is borrowed from the movies. Since you mentioned it, his lack of a conscience may have something to do with why he has no imagination. But he's even good at faking that. If you haven't see all of the movies that "his" ideas came from and put them together the way he puts things together in his books, you'd never know that they come from somewhere else. --Jasper
