You picked up on some things in Gorky Park that I missed. I didn't think about the rebuilding of the skulls as a substitute for DNA, but you're right. It is. You're also right about the "irreplaceable" O.J. There is all kinds of symbolism there. I would have missed most of it if I hadn't seen "Murder - According to Maggie" first. By now I shouldn't be surprised at how these movie connections and the Bundy murders bleed into each other when you put Fuhrman into the equation.
I started with the hair, the name Lee and the Drebin link to Lee Marvin Gorky Park because of Lee Marvin and the character in "Murder - According to Maggie" modeled after him in M Squad fully expecting to find a solid DNA link. I didn't find it (but you did) but I found so much more. The two bullets in the pen was the "smoking gun" as far as the link to "Murder - According to Maggie" was concerned."
You'd think that it would be tough to find anything that explicit to connect the teleplay with the screenplay and to Fuhrman's part in the Simpson-Goldman murder investigation when you're looking for something else. The truth is quite the contrary. His actions and his theories are so steeped in the movies that I rarely miss. Even then, when I think there's nothing there it's usually because I didn't see the movie or television show that gives what I'm seeing any special significance to Mark Fuhrman. You can't make this stuff up. It's either there or it isn't. It either follows a logical progression (from Fuhrman's point of view) from one idea to the next or it doesn't. It's there. Following that logical progression is why they're so easy to find. --Jasper
