Most of the movies linked to Fuhrman in The Smoking Gun and The Smoking Gun 2 feature relevant references to birds of all kinds as symbols of death or of impending death (the raven in Psycho, the crow in Omen II, unidentified birds in Swamp thing). In The Dark Half, starlings are carriers of newly departed souls.
Birds seem to go back to two of the three athletes Fuhrman said were his favorite of all time. One was Michael Jordan (I have reason to believe it has more to do with his number - 23 - and the birthday of the actor who plaid the Nazi "war bird" pilot in Sahara). Because of Jordan's incredible leaping ability and hang time, he was also said to be able to fly. Another one of Fuhrman's favorite athletes was Larry Bird. The number 33 is very big in the Fuhrman collection of movies. That was Bird's number. The Nazi Youth flag in Chapter 12 of The Smoking Gun shows an eagle with a hammer in one fist (Nicole an Ron were both hammered in the head before they were stabbed and slashed) and a sword in another. The number on a banner over the eagle is 33. -Jasper
