I had found it while surfing and thought that Jasper and others would be interested in seeing the piece. In fact, I'm not even sure how old it is, but it's probably at least a few years old.
Now, that does not preclude that "they" put it out for the reason(s) you may suspect.
Regarding your comment that the piece didn't implicate others fingered by Jasper, wrong again. Faye Resnick was mentioned by Celeni as the reason the boys went over to Nicole's in the first place.
In any case, a serious investigator might conclude that even one new bit of information may be found that might be helpful, even from a piece like this which is clearly otherwise not credible.
In other words, keeping an open mind to facilitate discussion can't hurt.
