The shrink that Ron and Nicole were going to (Jennifer Ameli) also specialized in drug abuse. Ron and Nicole both both had cocaine habits shorly before the murders but tested negative for recreational drugs when their bodies were autopsied. Could be they had kicked the habit long enough for the drugs to clear their systems and they were seeing Ameli to keep stright. --Jasper
