The DOJ says the first news article appeared in the Washington Times on July 11, 1995. From the summary, I got the impression that the 95 Roundup had just happened. Perhaps it is the 4th weekend.
It began years before and grew from about 10 participants to about 500. They Claim most who were there were not government employees.
This version is different from what I have read elsewhere. But it would be--since it is the DOJ site.
And of course, the accusers are portrayed as "disgruntled" people or people who want the BATF to "look bad". But we've heard That story before. Does the name Whitehurst ring a bell?
