You're not going to believe this...The top team for the bad guys in The Random Factor--the guys pulling the strings behind the scenes--are headquartered in Aspen. I finished the first draft of the novel a year before the murders and I knew nothing at the time of actual powerful figures being headquartered there.
I'm not saying this is purely coincidental, as I did follow to Aspen the money and the people I saw at the time as having more influence than was generally accepted. But there are elements of coincidence and natural flows of contact between successful people in certain fields at certain times that have to be taken into account. We have to be careful not to fall into the trap of assigning guilt by association. We have to know which people are linked to each other as a starting point but we have to be careful about determining HOW they are linked to each other. That's going to take a lot of work. --Jasper
