Jasper, I remember this well. It was in the 90's not the 80's. It was near the time of the trial or around it sometime that the news broke. I recall this because almost immediately I thought of MF.
It was Not the agents who had a video. This is where it gets interesting. It was a militia group who took the video. I believe it was a couple of members of the Alabama militia. They were a Patriotic group--not the Aryian Nation types. They had heard of the roundup each year and sneaked in and around the area and took video.
They released "some" of it to the media. The rest of it they kept back for a thouogh investigation which never really happened. What we ALL expected never happened.
The militia group couple who made the video became the targets of the FEDS making threats for the video which I believe in the long run they ended up having to turn over. Heaven only knows if they made copies. They feared for their lives before it was over with. Being with a militia put them behind the eight-ball with the Feds.
It was learned the invites to the roundup came out of Fed offices (via email I think) and not from a private source.
The regular cops were learned about being there were from the general local area (Tenn., Ala., GA.) Many more could have been there but we never learned of it. Who they were or where they were from, I mean.
If my memory is correct, besides local cops, there were DEA, BATF, FBI and more there.
I don't know how to go about finding out the exact date or even the year. I just know that it was exposed during the murder/trials time.
I remember discussing with Chris Springer at length about this. Here were all these agencies who usually don't get along at all having a core group that met and camped out each year in the boonies.
I think some of these local cops may be the ones who trained in the training groups I mentioned before with the CIA and others at the facility in West Georgia.
It was only after the video hit the media that agents themselves came forward and spoke of the roundup.
I have always wondered about those BBQ's that Fuhrman was forever going to. These guys camped out. Not all agents would that anxious to camp out. Fuhrman however is a hunter and a fisherman and a boater--and I'll bet a camper by nature.
Also BBQ's came up briefly in the Rampart Probe as an activity that these cops would do.
What Should have resulted in a major investigation and mass firings did not happen.
Some time in this period of time, we also have Waco involving the DEA, the FBI, the BATF and the military. I sure would like to find out the exact dates of the Good Ole Boy Roundup that got video-taped. charlie
