Charlie,

Preserving the archives was and is a high priority with Smartfellows Press. Creating the archives in the first place was something the experts said couldn't be done but the volume of posts was slowing the reply time down so much that I had to do something save what was written and to keep the active board alive. I didn't know what the hell I was doing and I made some big mistakes that are causing me headaches today, but I managed to cobble something together that worked.

Then Concentric bought Anaserve, the company I sign up with and everything went to hell. Links to the archives started breaking all over the place and we couldn't fix them. We had to move to a new server that was supposed to solve all of those problems but it was inherently flawed. They didn't tell us it had a UNIX platform. That's why messages kept disappearing and we couldn't set up an archive for the material we posted in June July and August.

Now that we have made the slow, painful move to a platform that really does support what we're doing, we will be able to restore the archives, but it could take a long time. I knew I could count on you and my other stalwart friends to get the ball rolling again. Don't know how I got along without you. I guess I didn't very well. When I talk to you and the others I feel as though a whole new quadrant of brain cells have just come to life.

Let's go... --Jasper
