I can't imagine how science could prove God exists or God does not exist. However, I believe like Carl Jung that somewhere deep in our subconscious is our collective unconscious where we all have the ability to communicate with something other than ourselves. We must just wait and be very aware. At times words pop can into the back of the mind or a song just keeps singing over and over (especially upon waking up) with a very important message for us. Perhaps, it is just our own mind's repressions and neural connections coming to the forefront, but at times the words are so startling -- totally "other" than what we would have possibly come up with on our own. God is awe-some -- full of mystery and something to be feared, yes, but not in a frightening way -- just awe-some. Look into Rudolph Otto's term "The Holy" in his book The Idea of the Holy for more about "awe". Also look into Soren Kierkegaard's concepts of the leap of faith and the knight of faith in his book Fear and Trembling (especially pages 37-41). It is a leap to believe in God when sometimes everything points away from God's existence. But then lighten up ... be of good cheer ... and enjoy our God-given world.
