Allita, That is the "feeling" I had. That things were found in and around the condo and thrown down. Maybe not all but some--like the knit cap.
The scene as described in American Tragedy is that while the walk thru was going on, they discovered this knit hat on the floor below the shelf in JUstin's room as if it had been knocked or pulled down while getting something else off the shelf.
The crime scene--with what was found that we know of and what was hidden (any info on that ring found under Ron) and the ankh necklace, Ron's watch and other things, it has all the markings of a scene "set up" after the cops arrived. Or that the killer had more time than we have given credit for setting up the scene.
