Seems to me that the important point is that Roberts involvement and the subsequent problem had led someone to ask Lange to investigate. Same thing happened with Schwab.
Lange was also asked to follow-up on the bugging of the counselor's office and home.
Does Lange mention any of these problems in his book?
Either way, these examples lead to the conclusion that Lange also knew more than he shared.
