I don't much about Brambles, but I think you were referring to Brad Roberts, Fuhrman's partner.
He was at O.J.'s that morning and when O.J. returned from Chicago, and was in a few photos.
I think the reason he was kept away from the limelight and public view was not related, however.
I think that the reason had more to do with the fact that he was the type who might unwittingly reveal details that would not be consistent with "the line".
As I remember, he was on a talk show once and only once. Can't remember which one though.
