I read this biography about Mengele. It looked into a lot of phycological aspects of his personality that lead to his inhumane acts. I find that this may explain a lot of people who act in ways that are somewhat unexplainable to the rest of us. I see some things that might explain the Clarance Thomases and the Fuhrman's of the world.
He was born in Guzgbeg, Bavaria.Later goint to school in Munich, Bavariea where the Natzi party was getting its start led by Hitler.
His father was a factory owner, who was rarely around and cold and distent. His mother raised he and his brothers and was very controlling of not only them but of his father also. She seemed to be a tyrant and was very religious in the catholic church. She wanted Joseph to be a priest but he was interested in medicine and anthopology and rebelled. In college he had a mentor, from which he got the praise, etc, that he did not get from home. This guy was into genetics and Mengele was his prize student. At he Univ. were a group of doctors who believed in a theory of "unworthy life" that some lives where not worth living. A law was passed to sterilize, feebleminded, meantally ill.epiliptics, heriditary blind, deaf, physicle deformaties, Huntington's disease and alcoholism. Mengele college thesis was that you could tell a persons race by his lower jaw. June 1940, he was accepted in Waffen SS. They were in charge of purifying the race. To be continued
