The movies say the sociopath is the one with no conscience – the brilliant, evil charmer. He is in full touch with reality but he thinks that he can fake anything including being a psychopath. The psychopath is the one who is out of touch with reality.
David Berkowitz (The Son of Sam) was a psychopath. When he said that the Devil made him do it, he wasn’t kidding. Ted Bundy was a sociopath. He knew what was going on all the time and took great pleasure in the cleverness of his planning, the daring of the actual deeds, the suffering of his victims, and the risk of getting caught. –Jasper
