Yes good theory for why they may have initially planted the "blank socks"on the floor, but doesn't seem to be the most likely reason for the blood on them. Maybe that was the initial reason they placed the blank socks without blood on the carpet but that wouldn't be because of Valerie's statement to the LAPD which is dated June 16th; his statement would only confirm what the culprits may have already known. The culprits may have had a lookout, someone watching OJ to see what he wore to Chicago and when they learned by that afternoon he was sockless they found the tuxedo socks in the hamper threw the socks down on the floor like he left in a hurry, (AFTER they found the picture under the mattress, important detail). ---------------------------------- More convincing to me is the story F. Lee Bailey tells that he deliberately baited them in the National media the first week in August because the story pre-dates the re-testing that definitively found blood on August 10th . That was why the Defense were confident the socks had EDTA. They requested the Prosecution to submit the socks to the FBI for EDTA testing along with a sample from the back gate. The Prosecution sent a letter to Martz asking he refute the claim there was EDTA in the socks and back gate. Supposedly the FBI was the only lab equipped to do tests for EDTA which seems to me to be unlikely but I don't know, there must be several private labs that could do the work, whatever. The Defense had Dr. Rieders analyze Martz's data. -------------------------------------The Defense requested the testing, the Prosecution sent it to the FBI lab. Martz testifies in court that the FBI Crime Lab is an extension of the law enforcement prosecutorial system; the FBI does not do independent work for defense attorneys. He seems to have messed with the lab results just like he was accused of doing in several high profile cases by FBI whistleblower Frederic Whitehurst - eventually Martz got caught manipulating results in other high profile cases and was indicted.
