There sure are a lot of interesting things in the new article 1984 in the Picture Gallery. Charlotte Rampling, with Fuhrman's birthday, playing Helen Grayle in Farewell My Lovely is particularly interesting because of the connection to the Naked Gun. I have the book Farewell My Lovely by Raymond Chandler. This is a quote from the book, which was borrowed for the Naked Gun- “Her hair was of the gold of old paintings and had been fussed with just enough but not too much. She had a full set of curves, which nobody had been able to improve on. The dress was rather plain except for a clasp of diamonds at the throat.” ….. There are lots of other interesting connections including the Valentine’s date in 1984 and the date Martin Luther King died. Not sure how you kept this all straight while working on this article. …… Here is a link to the script from the Naked Gun movie. http://www.script-o-rama.com/movie_scripts/n/naked-gun-script-transcript-leslie.html You will be able to compare what they did in the movie to what was written in Chandler’s book. …. I also found the 1984 commercial for the January 22, 1984 Super Bowl very interesting. Marcus Allen really shone as a player with the Los Angeles Raiders upsetting the Washington Redskins 38-9 in that Super Bowl. Here is a link to the 1984 Commercial on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYecfV3ubP8 …..I got a feeling 1984 is a lot like the Twilight Zone episode of “To Serve Man”. Remember the baseball bat incident occurred in 1984. Excellent work Jasper.
